I am delighted to be offering a new event!

Strategic Planning for the Environment

Is your Planning Scheme outdated and struggling to protect your LGA’s environmental stability?

Are you interested in learning how to develop and implement your Planning Scheme Amendment to improve environmental outcomes?

Are you wanting to learn how to work with Strategic Planners or Biodiversity Planners to achieve a great Planning Scheme Amendment?

Are you interested in learning more about the legal framework which governs strategic planning for the environment?

Are you wanting to meet people from other Councils, to learn from experienced Councils and build networks with other Councils interested in developing a Planning Scheme Amendment?

Why: This workshop has been developed in response to requests from Victorian local government Biodiversity Planners who have identified there is a critical knowledge gap relating to strategic planing for the environment.

By bringing together biodiversity planners, strategic planners and statutory planners, along with strategic planning consultants and specialist planning lawyers, this event aims to address this knowledge gap.

This workshop will support planners from different disciplines to work together for effective, focussed strategic planning for the environment.

What: Enjoy a full-day workshop with planners from across Victoria. The event will be rich with opportunities to learn more about how to plan, develop and implement a Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA). You will hear from other Council planners what helps (or hinders!) effective strategic planning outcomes and have time to workshop how their learnings can inform your approach to a future PSA.

Presenters will include strategic planning experts, specialist planning lawyers (Maddocks), and council staff who have developed and implemented PSAs in the past. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, dive into your own LGA’s planning scheme, learn what is required to develop a robust Planning Scheme Amendment, and hear from other Councils who have embarked on such an adventure.

The event will be a great opportunity to learn and share, whilst expanding your networks with other local government planners in varying stages of strategic planning. A day not to be missed!

When: Thursday 23rd March, 2023.

Arrival opens at 8:45am for a 9:00am start. The formal programme will finish at 4:30pm.

Where: City of Melbourne Bowls Club, Flagstaff Gardens (opposite Flagstaff Station). Corner of William Street and Dudley Street, West Melbourne.

Whom: Suitable for environment/biodiversity planners, strategic planners and statutory planners at all levels of experience. The workshop has been designed for Victorian biodiversity, strategic and statutory planners, regardless of whether a PSA is imminent…or on the wish-list!

Cost: $440.00 (inc. GST) per person. This includes a full programme of professional and experienced speakers in a beautiful venue. Ethical and sustainable catering is provided, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea included in the ticket price (please provide any dietary requirements when booking). Tea, coffee and water also are available during the event.
